Meet Cottage Hill Principal Shar Johns. Mrs. Johns began her tenure with the Pleasant Ridge School District in 2004 as the Vice Principal of Magnolia Intermediate School and served as the Principal of Alta Sierra Elementary from December 2009 until June 2012. Prior to joining the district, she taught for twelve years in the San Juan Unified School District in grades one through eight. As an experienced educator as well as proud mom and grandma, she has learned the importance of a positive, nurturing environment for children and is ever so appreciative of the staff and parents at Cottage Hill who work so diligently to create such a magical place for children to learn, grow and excel.
IN THE OFFICE
Michelle Evans is the first smiling face you will see in the office. Michelle's main job is secretary to Mrs. Veneman, but she also helps all the teachers with their needs.
She wears many hats, not only is she the secretary but helps with all the tasks in the office. Next time you are in the office, say hi to Michelle!
Elaine Greenhaw is our part-time secretary, helping students and parents with their needs. She also assists with the lunch process by heating the lunches and helping with the recording and accounting.
Shelly Bennett is our "lunch lady" as well as part time Special Ed Aide. Every morning you will find her in the MPR as she is collecting and counting lunch money as well as recording and accounting for lunches and milk. Later each day she serves the lunches that arrive from the central kitchen in Grass Valley.
Mrs. Sanders is our health aide. In addition to being a trained EMT she has many years of experience with working with children and parents. She has a great deal of knowledge and experience with childhood diseases and health-related concerns, not to mention how to stop a nose bleed or clean a skinned knee! In concert with our school nurse, she is responsible for reviewing immunization records, as well as coordinating the dental, vision and hearing screenings.
