Definitely one of the favorite spots on Magnolia's campus is the Woodworking Class. Students learn the lost art of woodworking creating various projects with their own hands (and tools of course!). They receive specialized instruction on how to safely use power tools such as the lathe, band saw, router, planner, and scroll saw. Students build jewelry boxes, baseball bats, Adirondack redwood chairs, musical bongo boxes, laminated cutting boards, Audubon approved blue bird houses, and much more. "It is wonderful to watch students grow and develop a sense of pride and ownership with their new craftsman skills," says Woodshop teacher Sandy Croft.
Mr. Croft ha s been teaching at Magnolia School since 1984. He is even a graduate of  Pleasant Ridge School District and Nevada Union. He went off to Santa Barbara to college, only to returned to his hometown to pursue his love of teaching. He began his career teaching eighth grade social studies, English, and coaching girls basketball, boys basketball, and varsity tennis at Bear River. When the opportunity to teach woodworking opened up, he jumped at the chance. Building and woodworking has always been one of his passions, and he began building custom homes in 1973 with his science teacher.
